SICILIA: AROUND the ETNA VOLCANO

Lying right in the middle of the Mediterranean, of which is the largest island, Sicilia has seen, from Normans to Arabs, the most various dominations. Everyone left behind landmarks and influences that still persist today. And Etna, at 3300 mts the highest Volcano in Europe, has been the main catalyst of many civilizations that have flourished under its frightful shade.
This biketour is an easy, full circle, spin around this still very active Volcano.
The tour starts in Nicolosi. From here, riding on the old road along the Simeto River, you get to Bronte. The hotel, set in the magnificent scenario of the wildest side of the Volcano, is at the summit of a 7k climb that our van is ready to spare you.
The next day starts with a long downhill. You stop in Maniace for a visit to the Nelson Castle - yes, also the British have settled around here. After lunch an easy climb takes you to Randazzo.
Next day you ride in wine country. So a stop at a local producer is a must. The ride is an easy spin on the Alcantara River Valley all the way to the Ionian coast. You stay for 2 nights in the delightful beach resort of 
Giardini Naxos.
Just a few miles and a little climb away you can't miss a visit to Taormina on the following day.
The last ride is all set along the coast. The baroque downtown of Acireale deserves a stop and, after lunch, you reach Acitrezza, another charming sea resort. Dinner on the last day it's not included but we give you suggestion for a good seafood restaurant in town.

The GREEN HILLS of ABRUZZO

Between the imposing mountains and the Adriatic coast Abruzzo displays a green belt of gentle hills lined with olive trees and vineyards that link the mountains to the coast. Crossed by winding and quiet backroads this area is heaven for leisurely cycling. Here wines and ‘extra-vergine’ olive oil are widely produced mostly by small family run farms. 



The very heart of this area is the little town of Loreto Aprutino. Here you spend the first 2 days in an elegant Agriturismo with swimming pool.
The next 2 days are in the spa resort of Caramanico Terme, the major center of the Maiella mountains National Park. Here you have one day rest from riding that you may use to enjoy the town, do a little trekking in the Park and get pampered at the local spa.
The day after you move to the eastern side of Maiella to Fara Filiorum Petri, a village that tracks its roots back to the Longobards. It's the last difficult ride. From now on you will ride mostly on the Adriatic coastline. 
The easy rides of the last 2 days gives you plenty of time to swim and sunbath. Your fine hotel is right across the street from the beach in the charming seaside resort of Marina di S.Vito. Dinner on the last day it's not included but we give you suggestion for a good seafood restaurant in town.
